Training OverviewBenefits Counseling Provider TrainingDid you know that Positive Resource Center is recognized as the preeminent provider of benefits counseling and return to work services in Northern California? We serve as the primary trainer to other organizations on how to effectively provide these services for their clients. Benefits counseling trainings seek to enhance the skills of benefits counselors, health care providers, attorneys, case managers and other advocates to better serve the needs of our very diverse communities of people living with or at risk for HIV/AIDS. Provider Trainings are two-day, intensive workshops focusing on Benefits and HIV, Winning a Disability Claim, Working with Active Drug Users, Public Benefits and Immigration, Public Benefits and Incarceration, and Working While Disabled issues. Ready for a career change but want to freshen up your computer skills before jumping into the job market? Learn about word processing, the internet, databases and spreadsheets through PRC's PC-based computer training program - free of charge! PRC's computer training program was designed specifically for people living with HIV/AIDS. Classes are small, ensuring that each student gets the attention and instruction he or she needs. We have two types of computer classes:

A complete calendar of classes is available online. If you are currently a Positive Resource Center Employment Services Program client, you can register for classes by calling Brian at 415-972-0805. If you are not a current client, please call us at 415-777-0333 to schedule an intake so you can be eligible for class registration. All PRC clients are welcome to use any of our 12 computer workstations during Open Lab (9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday, if no classes are scheduled). Brush up on your computer skills, work on your resume, take a typing test or check your e-mail. Self-paced training tutorials are available on CD-ROM. You can plug in the headphones, sit back and learn about the latest software at your own speed. Next Step Microsoft Office TrainingNextStep is a six-week intensive Microsoft Office computer-training program for HIV positive participants. The program includes Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet software training, as well as an introduction to MS PowerPoint and Access.
