Job Opening: Managing Director of Development
Full Time, Exempt
Position Summary
Positive Resource Center is seeking an exceptional development professional who is a clear communicator (both written and oral), a strategic thinker, has excellent judgment, and can work collaboratively. The Managing Director of Development oversees all aspects of the Development Department to include, grant prospecting, research, writing and reporting along with the management of individual donor cultivation activities. The Managing Director will supervise the Development Projects Manager, and will work closely with the Executive Director, and Board of Directors to help develop and implement an overall fund development strategy to advance the agency's institutional fundraising goals. The Managing Director of Development will be supervised by the Executive Director.
Position Responsibilities Include:
- Manages the prospecting process including developing systems and processes for identifying, vetting, researching and prioritizing potential foundation or corporate funders
- Manages the grant proposal process including drafting/editing letters of intent and proposals, tracking, scheduling and preparing proposal submissions, and necessary grant reports
- Oversees the development and implementation of the Major Donor Campaign and Year-End Annual Appeal, in collaboration with the Development Projects Manager
- Oversees individual and corporate event underwriting solicitation
- Oversees content of collateral development and marketing materials (PowerPoint presentations, press packets, brochures, annual report, newsletters, etc.) Oversees graphic design and printing of these materials
- Supervises the activities of the Development Projects Manager
- Maintains accurate records of development activities
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3-4 years of non profit/development experience with emphasis on grant writing
- Exceptional writing skills
- Proficient computer skills including Word, Excel, Access and Internet
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
- Comfort with feedback on proposals and multiple drafts and edits
- Strong analytical and reporting skills
- The ability to balance multiple projects and assignments
- Ability to work in a deadline driven work environment
- Ability to obtain information from various individuals including but not limited to development, finance, administrative and program departments
- Ability to articulate agency's mission to funders
- An interest and understanding of social and economic justice, HIV/AIDS and mental health issues
Salary and Benefits:
40 hours per week. $70,000 - $80,000 plus generous benefits package which includes medical, dental, short/long term disability, life insurance, professional development allowance and employer matching contributions to 403(b) retirement.
